It is a perennial herb, rhizomatous, reaching a size of 50 cm to 1 m in height, with greenish or reddish-brown stems. It has opposite leaves with serrated edges. The flowers, solitary (chapters), 20 to 35 mm in diameter, with white ligulate flowers, with the inner region of yellowish hue. Its fruits are achenes, angular, with 2 to 4 twisted hooks at the end.
