Annual or biennial hairy, usually with many 20-100 cm stems. Basal leaves numerous, lanceolate to oblanceolate, toothed or lobed with backward-directed or bidivided lobes, caulinar leaves similar, smaller. Capitula yellow, 1.5-1.8 cm in diameter, many on a flat-topped inflorescence. Involucre of linear bracts lanceolate, usually with glandular hairs, the outer ones one-third to one-half as long as the inner ones. Achenes brownish, without beaks. Flowers from spring to autumn.
