Perennial, annual or perennial, erect plant, 30 to 60 cm tall. The leaves are pinnatisect or pinnatipartite. Its flowers are large and solitary with four yellow or orange petals with dark spot at the base, and its sepals are welded forming a hood. The fruit is a capsule of between 7 and 10 cm straight and glabrous, with globular, reticulate or dotted seeds.
