Perennial herbaceous plant with aromatic leaves, erect branching up to 1.5-2 m high. Dense foliage and finely divided into needles, purple when the plant is young, greenish gray when adult. It flowers in summer in abundant compound umbels, full of tiny yellow flowers. The seeds are also very aromatic.
