For the genus Genista it is recommended to sow at 22º C for 6 weeks or more, move to -4ºC for 6-8 weeks. Then increase the temperature to 10°C. If germination does not occur in 4-6 weeks, start the cycle from the beginning. If the hot/cold cycles were not long enough, a new cycle will be necessary. Germination days: 14-30.
-The generally recommended method is chemical scarification in sulfuric acid for 30-20 minutes to reduce the impermeability of the seed coat.
-Immersion in water at 80º C for half a minute until subsequent cooling is of the order of 50%.
Germination without any type of treatment is slow and staggered.
-Infuse and leave the seeds submerged for 12-24 hours while the water cools down'.
