They are annual or perennial plants (depending on environmental conditions) and can reach 20 to 60 centimeters in height, although in some areas specimens of about 90 centimeters tall have been recorded. Its leaves are opposite at the stem and have a lanceolate appearance, with slightly serrated edges. When squeezed, they release a strong menthol citrus scent.
