It is a perennial herbaceous and cespitose of the Poaceae family, it is a tropical and subtropical grass. Characteristic for its dual inflorescence, V-shaped, with two spikes type clusters containing multiple tiny spikelets. It tolerates any type of soil, shade, trampling and drought, from which it recovers easily. Initially it is slow growing but once established it is very invasive.
