Annual herb cultivated for the essential oil content of its seeds (ranging from 6 to 23%), rich in anethole. It is used to prepare aniseed liqueurs and other liquors. The seeds are expectorant, carminative and stomach tonic. It is easily cultivated in soils without excessive humidity and well sterilized, in warm areas (1000000 s/kg).
