It is a herbaceous, low-growing perennial plant that forms a rosette of leaves 5-15 cm long and 2-6 cm wide. The intense yellow flowers emerge between April and May forming clusters of 10 to 30 flowers on a single stem 5 to 20 cm high, each flower is 9 to 15 mm wide.
