Sarmentose and tangled deciduous shrub, which grows in the hawthorns, hedges, banks and forest edges, on all types of soils and with great ecological amplitude. It has been used as a strigent and is a plant appreciated for its richness in vitamins that give it an antiscorbutic character.

Stratification in sand or wet vermiculite for 6 or more months at 5º C is recommended.
