It is a perennial herbaceous with an erect stem that can reach 120 cm in height. It has a rhizomatic root from which the basal leaves sprout in the form of a rosette. The leaves are edible and have an acid taste, similar to vinegar. Native to Europe, it grows in soils rich in iron, in humid forest soils and in shady areas near watercourses.
