It is an annual or sometimes perennial plant, cosmopolitan, with stems up to 35 cm long. Like other Spergularia species, its flowers have white to pink petals, with sepals usually longer than the petals, 2.5 to 4 mm . The plants are salt tolerant, found in maritime coastal areas and in saline inland areas.
