Herbaceous perennial with a stolon, glabrous except for the pedicels, peduncles and petioles. From these stolons arise stems up to 60 cm that root at the nodes. The leaves are alternate and petiolate. The flowers, white and sometimes pink or purple, are gathered in racemose inflorescences. It appears throughout Europe, and in the Peninsula scattered in all regions.
