It is a deciduous tree, which can reach 25 m in height, with a trunk of metric diameter. The bark is dark light gray and fissured longitudinally, and the twigs are thin, yellowish-gray and glabrous or pubescent. Flowering and fruiting are early, that is, its flowers appear and fruit before leaf budding. The flowers are small, pink and are gathered in small groups practically seated on the branches. The fruits are samaras. The leaves have pubescent petiole of 4-10 mm and pubescent underside when young. They are alternate with serrated edge.
