Success of Spanish companies in the European phase of the EBAE Awards

Five Spanish companies are on the shortlist of finalists for the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE Awards), while two national companies have been distinguished in the so-called Rising Stars after the deliberation of the jury on June 24, which this year has met in the form of online due to circumstances associated with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this edition, 94 applications were received from 16 European countries, from which the jury selected 16 finalists and awarded 12 other companies with the Rising Stars distinction.

These awards are only open to proposals that have been selected by the national competitions of the awards, held in member countries of the European Union or candidate countries for accession. The Spanish participants have stood out for their high quality.

The five Spanish companies that are on the list of finalists are: Naturgyin the category of management - medium and large companies; R3 Technoresiduesin the category of Management - small and micro enterprises; IDAI NATUREin the Product category; Tejidos Royo in the Process category and HEINEKEN SPAIN in the Business and Biodiversity category. In the so-called Rising Stars, two Spanish companies were distinguished: Semillas Cantueso, in the Business and Biodiversity category, and BASOINSA, in the International Business Cooperation category.

The Biodiversity Foundation, organizer of the national section of the Awardsparticipated as a member of the jury this year, in which the proposals submitted stood out for their leadership towards a sustainable economic recovery for Europe, well aligned with the priorities of the European Green Deal and with a deep respect for the environment at the heart of its trade policies.

The award ceremony, where the winners will be announced, is scheduled for November 2020 in Brussels.if circumstances permit.

In Spain, the European Business Awards for the Environment have been held since 1997, and the winning companies receive important recognition from society, the business world and the world of sustainability. The Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge is the entity in charge of managing the Spanish section since 2013.
