It is a herbaceous plant that can reach up to 140 cm in height. It is characterized by having long and bidentate utricles. It is a cespitose plant, with a very robust rhizome. It grows near aquatic ecosystems, supports salinity and any type of soil. In the Iberian Peninsula it is found in regions with Mediterranean influence.
