Perennial tree up to 15 m high. The leaves, aromatic and very leathery texture, arise in groups of 3 to 6 at the end of the branches. They are obo-lanceolate to elliptic with a short pointed apex. The flowers are solitary, axillary or subterminal, with 7 to 12 broadly ovate or elliptic, white tepals. The fruit is a reddish-brown capsule formed by about 8 boat-shaped follicles that open in the center at maturity. Each contains a single ovoid seed of about 8-9 mm, brown.
