It is the giant among its genus. It grows forming a dense bush of more than one meter high, with triangular section stems and long, rigid leaves. It lives in riparian forests with eutrophic soil, permanently humid. It is frequent in the shade of the mountains. It grows in riparian alder groves. Indicator of humidity and nutrient richness.
