Dietes are rhizome-bearing plants that develop open, light-airy, fountain-like clumps about 40-100 cm high. They are made up of leathery, long, thin or sword-shaped leaves. Each flower stalk bears several buds; the flowers last only a few days, but new ones open continuously.
