It is a perennial species, creeping, glabrous, of very humid places, rooting at the nodes, with thick, rounded to oblong, petiolate leaves. Pale to dark blue flowers, 5-7 mm in diameter, in spiciform inflorescences from the upper leaf axils. Flowers in spring and summer.
