Strongly thorny shrub that loses its leaves in winter, with zigzag branches, armed with strong thorns. It produces a reddish-brown globose drupe, edible but scarce and not very tasty. It grows in dry hills and wadis of semi-arid climate of the Iberian S.E. (3185 s/Kg).
