It is an evergreen shrub that spreads its branches, lying on the ground or hanging, up to 1 or 2 meters long, with reddish bark, easy to detach. It is a plant whose leaves are used as an astringent and antiseptic previously dried, in the sun or in the air, in decoction or infusion.

Scarification in sulfuric acid for 4 hours is recommended, followed by warm and humid stratification at 5º C for 60-90 days.
