Seed from fruits harvested in summer and extracted immediately after harvesting germinates well without any treatment.
If the seed is allowed to dry after extraction or is not sown immediately, it enters a state of dormancy linked to another due to the impermeability of the cover. To overcome these dormancies, scarification in sulfuric acid for 4 hours is recommended (very long acid treatments should be avoided), followed by warm, moist stratification at 5°C for 60-90 days, after which germination close to 50% is obtained.
