It is an evergreen, monoecious tree that can exceed 30 meters in height in most cases. It has antiseptic properties especially at the level of the respiratory tract: pharyngitis, bronchitis, sinusitis, flu, colds. It grows in any type of soil, tolerates well limestone and dry soils, but thrives best in loamy soil and a position in full sun.
