Herbaceous annual or biennial, terophyte, which can exceed half a meter in height. Its stems are erect and hairy. Its basal leaves are petiolate, irregularly lobed and arranged in rosettes, the upper ones are alternate, smaller and sessile. The main flowering season is from late winter to early spring although it can bloom throughout the year. It is found in autumn and winter in the cultivated fields of much of Europe, Mediterranean region and western Asia. Very common in the Iberian Peninsula, absent in the northwest and Pyrenees.
