Purple lovegrass is a perennial, deciduous grass, recognizable by its inflorescences, which appear in late summer and show a very striking reddish purple color. It is very useful for retarding soil erosion processes, and as fodder, since both livestock and wildlife eat it with pleasure. It is also used as an ornamental, as part of floral arrangements.
