Grass up to 1 meter high that takes root in flooded soils of the banks and areas covered by a few centimeters of water. It stands out for its intense light green color. Rhizomes that spread in flooded soils, where it forms dense populations. From these rhizomes emerge stems of triangular section, with very sharp edges and long, flat leaves, up to 10 mm wide. At the end of the stem, in a centered position and surmounted by some bracteal leaves of unequal length, the inflorescence of brown spikes is formed, sessile or with short peduncle.
