Deciduous tree up to 8 m high. It is very decorative because of its purple red to purple brown foliage that allows to include color contrasts in the garden. Its white flowers are borne on bare branches and are very attractive. It is an ornamental plum tree that does not produce edible plums. Its trunk has a shiny reddish bark.
