Deciduous tree that can reach 10 m in height, with a rarely straight trunk and ash-colored bark. Simple, lanceolate, narrow leaves with serrated margin. Flowers solitary or in groups of 2-4, white or pinkish. It is cultivated to obtain the fruits, used in the food and cosmetic industry. The sweet almond is used in the production of nougat and marzipan. They are also used in the production of liqueurs and spirits.
