Perennial herbaceous up to 60 cm high. Its leaves are long and cintiform of dark green color that in autumn turn to a brownish color. Its flowers acquire a pinkish-purple hue that covers the foliage making it a very showy plant in summer. It is suitable for ground cover, slopes, erosion protection and ornamental gardening. It is native to North America.
