Cornus alba

Siberian dogwood

SC05652

The Siberian dogwood has bright green leaves in midsummer, a medium to large shrub with a height of 1 to 4 meters. At first it grows erect, although with age the branches open up and hang down to the ground. The stems have blood red bark, which darkens to brownish red and then to olive brown. The leaves are ovoid to elliptical in shape, 4 to 8 cm long, slightly pointed and with entire margins. In autumn its leaves turn red. Its fruit is pea-shaped, rounded, white or slightly blue, with an elliptical and hard interior; they are longer than wide and at both ends with pointed ends.
